About IIC Institute

      Vignan Institute of Technology and Science (VGNT) established Institutions’ Innovation Council (IIC) under MHRD’s Innovation Cell, an initiative launched in 2020. The primary mandate of Innovation Cell, MHRD is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas. VGNT’s Innovation Council works towards inculcating the spirit of innovation among students, and develop a start-up ecosystem.

Vision

   The College aims at promoting the culture of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Research to facilitate financial empowerment among students.

Mission/Goals

   Short term Goals – To create awareness among the faculty, supportive staff and students with regard to innovations and entrepreneurship. Preparing Business plan for every Startup and Registration of VGNT incubation Centre.

   Long term Goals – To set up at least 10 pre- incubations, set up an incubation centers which will identify potential entrepreneurs, unlock their potential, improve creativity, orient them on innovation, provide support on market study, technical skills, knowledge on finance and provide handholding and mentoring support. Commercialization of products will be a focus area. Promote unique brands and take care of marketing risks, technology risks, financial risks with the help of other institutions like industry associations.

Journey of IIC established at the Institute

Established in 2020, there was not much that the faculty and students contributed to the IIC due to Covid19 Situations. In 2021, Dr N Dinesh Kumar was appointed as the president of IIC at the college. He initiated the works of IIC with his team of diversified people. The college was able to get a single star and all the faculty involved got the appreciation certificates from the IIC. This has given the team an encouragement and energy to continue to strive for a better start ranking.

Innovations / Technology Developed at the institute

  • Rice Vending Machine (RVM) -The idea relates to an automated Rice Vending Machine (RVM) to be deployed for dispensing Rice under the Subsidized Public Distribution System (PDS). Salient features of the RVM covered by this idea are
    • An in-built device for Aadhaar, biometric and ration card based identification and authentication of the beneficiary
    • A coin reader/ recognizer
    • No intervention of any kind by third parties like Ration dealer.
    • Rice is delivered one Kg at a time sequentially with small intervals of time to create transparency of the transaction
    • Multiple beneficiaries listed in the same ration card can draw their quota of rice from different machines.
  • IoT based Teaching Assistance apparatus for teaching Braille Language to the Blind Students
  • Smart IOT based face mask and body temperature sensing device
  • A smart bangle for the women safety system

Two research scholars got PhD awarded under his guidance. Completed research project of Rs 74 lakhs funded by NMRE where he guided and involved the students and faculty. Got one patent and Five indexed publications.
